MICHAEL BURLEIGH

Michael was born in Sheerness and educated locally at Borden Grammar School. He then took a Graduate course at the Royal Academy of Music in London, focusing on harpsichord and viola. He currently plays piano and organ.

 

After leaving the Academy, Michael worked for Loris Tjeknavorian as his score writer and was part of the monumental oratorio "The Last Judgement", which set to music the whole of the Book of Revelation.

 

Michael has taught in many of the local schools; his last position was head of music at Elliott Park, Minster-on-Sea.

Michael has accompanied SOCS for many years, and has been associated with many other groups, such as Medway Opera and Freeguard Singers. He also directs the Isle of Sheppey Singers and sings tenor with the Royal Choral Society in London.
